This is a very useful and good book for the students who are from the School of Engineering (SEG). For SEG students taking E203 Circuit Analysis and E219 Analogue Electronics in Year Two, this book is your best tool to score As for these units in both your daily grades and UTs.
The book provides detailed information about theories and derivation of formulas. It also allows the reader to learn things in a more systematic way. It covers a lot of information about AC and DC circuits, especially capacitors, inductors, RLC circuits and resonance, etc. All these are required knowledge in E203 Circuit Analysis.
Based my experience, it is not easy for the freshman to solve the problem statement and gain good understanding of the topics if he depends only on the worksheet provided. Some may go online to look for resources but information from the internet may not be reliable.
Your best choice would be to borrow this book. For example, in part II, Chapter 10, the book guides you in understanding the relationship between current and voltage in an RC circuit first, followed by the sinusoidal response of RC circuits. It provides both graphs and detailed calculation procedures. Explanatory notes accompany for each step. What’s more, it has practice questions as tests for students. By going through those practice questions, you will be able to understand the circuit better and remember the formulas used. I greatly believe that ‘practice makes perfect!’. As you go through more practices, your UT grades will definitely be higher and better.
As for E219 Analogue Electronics, the book covers topics on diodes and amplifiers. Based on my experience, the module doesn’t guide you through on how the semiconductor works and how it becomes a Diode. I think it will be better to get an understanding of the biasing of the PN junction first because it really benefits our understanding about diodes. This book provides detailed information about it and provides practice questions as well.
Most importantly, this book will make your study of E203 Circuit Analysis and E219 Analogue Electronics easier and more effective because you don’t have to spend too much time in searching online and filtering information. By making full use of this book, you will be able to learn more systematically. Indeed, if you face difficulties in circuit analysis or analogue electronics, please get help from this book. You would learn more than expected.
